I Can Hear it Now
July 18, 2009

If you look for “I Can Hear it Now” on Wikipedia, you’ll discover that there is, at present, no article about that remarkable series of albums produced by Edward R Murrow.  But I know something very few people know about it.  Of the sound recordings scattered among Murrow’s narrative, only one third of them were authentic recordings, mostly of famous people delivering famous speeches. One third of them were my father’s voice, imitating celebrities of the day, and the remainder were recorded by other mimics. But Dad never mentioned it to me. He died soon after I found out (from my history teacher at Peddie) and we never got a chance to discuss it.
